This comprehensive and attractive work won favor for the information it provided and for the quality of its 1025 color illustrations. At the time, there was practically nothing else like it. Georg Dionysus Ehret, destined to become the foremost botanical illustrator of the Mid-18th Century, made many of its drawings.
